Misdemeanor Charges
In the state of Texas, a misdemeanor falls beneath a felony. It is classified as a crime that does not involve serious violence or property loss. There are three classes of misdemeanor charge; each carries a different degree of punishment. Misdemeanor charges do not result in imprisonment in a state penitentiary; rather, you can expect to pay a fine or be sentenced to house arrest or a stay in a county jail. In some instances, you can expect both a fine and jail time.
While a misdemeanor charge is typically not as serious as a felony, it still needs to be taken seriously. Apart from facing jail time, a misdemeanor conviction can hinder your future employment prospects and your ability to pursue other goals.
